Hair covers many parts of human body from head to toes. Its generally function is to keep the body warm. Some animals use hair to protect themselves, find the couples. For humans, eyelashes and eyebrows are used to protect eyes from sweat and dust. Hair can protect scalp from the sunlight. Hair can also be one of the good evidence in many legal cases such as criminal case. However, hair is used for beauty purpose than any other purposes. Now, we have some tips to keep your hair healthy.
 
How to shampoo to keep your hair healthy
 
 

Shampoo is to clean your hair from
Shampoo your hair in the morning or the afternoon but never shampoo your hair in the evening. It is better to use warm water to shampoo your hair. If you use conditioner, apply it only on your hair, not the scalp. After shampoo, dry your hair gently by blotting with towel, not rubbing as it may damage your hair.

While your hair is wet, do not brush your hair. If your want to comb your hair, use wide-tooth comb. It is better to use wooden comb to keep healthy hair as wooden comb has no static electricity while combing. To protect your hair from UV, wear a hat in the sun.
 
1. Growth phase (Anagen phase) about 90 % of hair is in this phase, which Matrix cell will be divided into hair. This phase, hair grows around 0.35 mm. everyday or around one cm. per 28 days. Hair would be in this phase for 5 years then it enters the next phase. The length of hair is different in all part of body as it has difference growth phase. For example; Eyebrow has a growth phase of 3-5 months before replaced by new ones.
 
2. Transitional phase (Catagen phase) is the phase that hair follicle declines and it is the end of growth phase. 3% of the hair enters this transitional phase and would last about 2-3 weeks.
 
3. Resting phase (Telogen phase) is the phase that the matrix cell in the hair follicle stops developing. Hair strings is rough, dry and eventually fall down. 10-15% of hair is in this resting phase and would last about 100 days before it enters the growth phase.
 
Causes of hair fall
 
Alopecia and thinning hair can be seen from birth or later on. If the fallen hair is more than the regrowing hair, then it causes thinning hair. Therefore, the causes of thinning hair are :
 
Age – the highest growing rate of hair would be during teenage till 40 years old. After then, the growing rate is slower and hair follicles lose its function ability. Therefore, the replacement would less than the fallen hair. For male, this would happen from forehead and move backwards. Female tends to have hair fall on the top of the head.
 
Heredity – It can be found from both genders but more in male. This could happen from the end of teenage period. This bald is associated with Androgen Hormone called ”Androgenetic alopecia” ( AGA )
 

Scar – scar would stop hairs from growing. Scars could occur from burn, scald, infection from virus, etc.

 
Mental and physical conditions – illness such as cancer, thyroid; giving birth, stress can cause hair fall.
 

Medicine and radiation – Side effect from taking some medicines or having medical treatment such as reducing blood pressure medicines, having too much vitamin A, getting cadmium into the body, etc. These can be the causes of hair fall.

 

Hair Styling - use high temperature to style the hair, tightly tie up hair, comb hair too often or even use too much hair cosmetics.

 
Lack of nutrition – growing and developing of hair need sufficient nutrition. Diet or inadequate in receiving nutrient would effect the growing and developing of hair.
 
Hormone – level of hormone would cause hair fall. Having or stopping birth-control pills would affect hormone level.
